About Our Dogs
Our Anatolians are an integral part of our homestead. They are at work, 24/7, keeping our property, family, and livestock safe from predators and other threats. Before owning Anatolians, our garden was eaten daily by deer, coyotes passed through our property, and our livestock was never safe. After owning our dogs, predators stay off our land, and we have peace of mind knowing our kids can safely play in the yard and our livestock is protected.
Qualifications Bar JO's Breeding Anatolians Must Meet
We strive to treat every buyer as we would want to be treated. One of the ways we do this is by only breeding Anatolians that meet the qualifications below. These qualities not only result in an overall better Anatolian that will represent the breed well, but also a reliable dog that owners can trust and will bless their home.
Qualifications:
Health-Tests
Our breeding dogs are OFA (hip, elbow, thyroid) and PennHIP tested before breeding them, and we will only breed them if they have average or above average marks. Furthermore, we only breed dogs who come from health tested parents. This minimizes the chances of health-issues being passed down to their offspring, which can potentially save our buyers thousands of dollars.
Registration/Lineage
When selecting a breeding dog, we take the puppy's lineage seriously. We look for lineage that has come from generations of working, well-tempered, and sound Anatolians. Multiple of our breeding dogs have Turkish lineage, preserving the rare bloodlines throughout Canada. Furthermore, all of our dogs and their puppies will be registered to ensure our buyers are getting a true Anatolian.
Temperament/Insticts
Finally, our Anatolian's temperament and working instincts will be evaluated. We ensure they have a willing, trainable, adaptable, and gentle demeanour towards us and our livestock. We evaluate their guardian abilities, tendencies towards livestock, awareness, and predator drive. We will also get outside opinions from qualified Anatolian breeders to ensure that we are producing desirable dogs.
